It takes a lot of work to get our donated equipment from the United States to the people in need in Mexico. The cost to collect, transport, refurbish and distribute a used wheelchair is $150.00. You can sponsor a brand new child's wheelchair for a child in need for just $300.00. The chairs are manufactured in Iowa and allow a lot of room for growth. The chairs are adjustable in almost every direction including seat width, depth and leg length. They also include side/trunk and head supports as well as a desk for the child to work on while they are in their chair. These chairs make an enormous impact on the child and they can use the equipment for many years. $300 covers the cost to manufacture, ship, deliver, and individually seat the child in their new wheelchair.

Sponsoring a student allows a therapy student to travel to our Hub in Mazatlan, Mexico to use their new knowledge and therapy techniques with people with disabilities in need. The students will not only work with recipients during wheelchair distributions, individually adjusting each piece of equipment for the recipient but they will also work at the local disabled orphanage to create adaptations to help the children better participate in their lives both at home and at school, work with children at our Hub assisting in Equestrian (horse therapy), and work with the disabled children and their families to develop new therapy programs and techniques. Your donation offsets the student's grounds fees and allows them to participate in a distribution they may otherwise not be able to afford.

Sponsor adaptive communication in the form of speaking computer systems or speech boards to enable children with disabilities to communicate. This technology costs $200.00 to sponsor and allows a therapist to teach the parent and child how to use the communication devices so that the child can express their needs, thoughts and ideas.

The Steve Oliver Memorial Scholarship is given to volunteers who wish to to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities, their families and communities while working at the Hub. The scholarship amount varies based on the number of applicants and funds recieved. Applicants are considered based on financial need and previous community service performed.
