The wheelchair repair and maintenance shop is staffed by Sergio Valdez, a talented, dedicated local man with a disability. Sergio works at the shop to provide sustainable on-going care to people who receive donations of mobility equipment from Push International or other organizations throughout the year. He is also able to repair, replace and adjust people’s equipment when it wears out, breaks, or if their needs change. He also teaches the clients how to maintain their equipment, adjust it and how to use it properly as well as motivating clients with his personal story and accomplishments. Sergio motivates and encourages clients to reach their full potential every day. The shop is stocked with donations of mobility equipment from individuals and organizations in the United States of America and Canada. The donations include wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, shower chairs, commodes, cushions and related equipment. If you would like more information about donating equipment please see the equipment collections page.
A new wheelchair repair and maintenance shop is currently under construction at the back of the Hub property. The new facility will allow for new organization and layout, greater accessibility to equipment, and a larger work area for Sergio and the Push International staff to move about. The current wheelchair repair and maintenance shop, currently located on the street front, will be converted into a Laundromat to help generate more income for the Hub.
