June 23-June 30, 2007
The first team of fourteen volunteers joined us from Woodland Park, Colorado. The multi-talented team worked long days installing laundry facilities to support Push International, and tiling and painting Steve and Miriam’s home to better support our activities at this Hub.
This team was also very active in the community doing clothing distributions in poor neighborhoods, painting a local church and working in the local community.
The Woodland Park team helped to distribute many wheelchairs throughout their week in Mazatlan and were able to help bring the gift of personal mobility to many people and to their families. The team met a young boy named Jesus Miseal during their distribution. Jesus was terrified of his new wheelchair. The team worked for hours adjusting the new chair for him and his family, played with him, talked with his mother and got to know Jesus. There were many custom in-the-field adaptations made to the chair and after all of their hard work, Jesus sat in the chair calm and content.
